Wonders what people are thinking

I have to read some more in depth reviews of various movies. I tried to watch Bridesmaids and had to turn it off. I hated the movie as much as I saw anyway. Then I was watching Battleship which got so many bad reviews and I'm trying to figure out why. Yes folks men say similar things at times that were in this movie and act stupid.

The dialogue didn't bother me. It was actually pretty good. The special effects were really good and they explained more about what was going on than most science fiction movies do. There is always the guy who rises above it all and they had that but what they did have that i didn't like was Liam Neeson. I mean I am sick and tired of seeing that man in so many movies. He is over saturated in my opinion. I mean he did fine in his part but I would rather see someone else for a nice change.

Rarely does a scifi movie get a very good rating. I know or think Star Wars did but I didn't like those movies much. I don't care much for Harrison Ford but I did like the Indiana Jones movies especially the one with Sean Connery. That one was hilarious. Again, Liam Neeson is in this series of movies. (I know not all) The only thing I liked was the first prequel with the kid and the Ewoks.

Anyway back to Battleship. I absolutely loved that movie and I see no comparison to Transformers at all other than robotics. I thought it was cool when they used the grid and the thing the deuffy brother did with the Missouri. I thought they all were good and made it extremely entertaining. I liked the bits of humor involved. The aliens made me think of walruses (don't know why). Thought they might be amphibious. I thought the ending was funny. You could say it was predictable but not all of it. I liked them bringing in the older actors as well. I think people are being piffle about giving this movie a bad review.

I have seen hundreds of scifi movies and this one was better than most. Now I have to see Prometheus to see what the fuss is about that movie. I know it's been out awhile but I still haven't had a chance to watch it. I have it on my list in Netflix but I still have the Avengers and I absolutely LOVE that movie so I have watched it a bunch of times. I got to watch the Hunger Games but I thought it was all right. I have all the books. So when I get feeling bad (I have fibromyalgia and a few sundry things) I watch movies.

Philosophers

"The wise have always said the same things, and fools, who are the majority have always done just the opposite."

Arthur Schopenhauer

Why do quotes make someone like this famous or listened to? OR abstract books they write? I don't understand why there are those who are philosophers because it seems to me it is nothing more than someone's analytical opinion. Much of which most of us already know. OR it is someone who is so eccentric people take notice because of their odd machinations. Philosophy spewed by one person to me is opinion. Why should I care what some dead person thought about things? Sorry I don't think philosophy is worth my time and have always felt this way. I guess that could be said of scientists as well but at least they leave something more concrete behind. But there are some catchy phrases that someone has stated and people listened because it was in line with their own thinking or they were impressed. It's not like you will easily find work with a degree in Philosophy. (teaching maybe) Some quotes I really like and use. I don't always know who the person was who stated them or have I always wanted to track down all of their opinions.

Now here is Kant:

“Immaturity is the incapacity to use one's intelligence without the guidance of another"

How profound, right? LOL

Then you have a list of many types of them all with their own ideas about everything. Maybe I could create some sort of job where I get paid for my opinions...OH that has been done, Fox News.

Then there is Ethics and now I am developing a migraine.
